Holy Apostles Catholic Church & Campus

The Holy Apostles Catholic Church and Campus has been a decades long legacy project for The Land Group. Planning and design began in 1998 with construction of the church completed in 2001. In the years following this initial effort, our team has been integral in the planning and design of the Adoration Chapel, St. Ignatius Catholic School, New Parish Rectory, and Outreach Center. A new master planning effort in 2023 launched the development of a school addition and the Outreach Center. Our focus and attention to the Holy Apostles community has always been one of listening and supporting the purposeful development of the campus features.

Context

Context
A consolidation of the Eagle and Meridian parish churches started this project and lead to the completed church in 2001. Ongoing and dramatic growth in the region has lead to the need for additional planning and development. Growth and a Catholic program have been constant and known planning conditions while the exact uses and sequencing of development has varied dramatically. Planning and development of the campus have required an ongoing engagement and commitment from The Land Group and key parish stakeholders. Future updates to the master plan will be critical to ongoing success.

Process

Process
This project is unique in the fact that The Land Group is the sole entity that has been engaged with the client and community for the duration of the project. The project has spanned three parish priest assignments, Three contractors, four architects, and two jurisdictions (development started in Ada County with subsequent annexation into the City of Meridian). The Land Group, along with the core values of the parish and diocese, have remained as the consistent and steady force that has allowed on ongoing evolution of the master plan and development strategy to be successful.

Solution

Solution
The solutions addressed both the aesthetic and functional needs of the Holy Apostles Campus. Through thoughtful and detailed planning and design of infrastructure and circulation, the campus has grown to accept increased programs and population in a manageable manner. The growth has occurred in a sustainable way that benefits not only original visionary church members but future generations. Beyond the technical planning and design, The Land Group has employed expert record keeping and ongoing staff engagement to ensure the history and context of our professional services are retained for future benefit to the community.

Impact

Impact
Holy Apostles Catholic Church, St. Ignatius Catholic School, and the companion uses and features of the campus will impact generations of people in the community. Both church members and non-members are impacted in positive ways through programs and ongoing community enrichment efforts. The thoughtfully designed and sustainable campus allows the parish leadership to focus on people rather than campus constraints and maintenance burdens.
