Context

Context
As St. Luke’s Boise Medical Center continued to evolve its Downtown Campus, the organization sought opportunities to improve mobility, campus connectivity, and the overall patient and visitor experience. The Bannock Corridor presented a unique opportunity to transform an existing vehicular corridor into a shared public space that better serves pedestrians, cyclists, patients, staff, and visitors. Located within a dense urban environment, the project required balancing the transportation needs of a major healthcare campus with broader community goals related to accessibility, safety, and placemaking. The corridor also serves as an important connection between the hospital campus, surrounding neighborhoods, and downtown Boise.

The Land Group, in collaboration with the project team and stakeholders, led landscape architecture, civil engineering, and urban design coordination efforts throughout the planning and concept development process. Extensive stakeholder engagement was central to the project’s success, including workshops, charrettes, and coordination meetings with St. Luke’s Health System, the City of Boise, ACHD, neighborhood representatives, and community advocates. Through a collaborative evaluation process, the team developed and refined design alternatives before advancing a preferred concept to the preliminary design stage.
